The best 5 things to do this winter in Melbourne

1. Try Skiing and Snowboarding

Mt Buller

Undoubtedly Victoria's favourite ski destination, Mt Buller holds a special appeal for both day visitors and weekend thrill-seekers. Conveniently situated less than three hours from Melbourne, this mountain features a wealth of downhill terrain perfect for both skiers and snowboarders, offering abundant space for novices to find their snow legs. More seasoned enthusiasts should make a beeline for the Southern Slopes, home to some of Victoria's most challenging black runs. Regardless of which part of the mountain you choose, be prepared: the resort is perennially bustling. That's the small price to pay for its proximity to Melbourne.

Not a fan of snowy sports? No issue there. Mt Buller boasts a variety of activities beyond its slopes. Amenities include a day spa, sled dog adventures, snowshoeing routes, and a vibrant après-ski scene. Scattered across the mountain, you'll discover some 30 bars and restaurants catering to all preferences. Whether you're a day visitor or eager to hit the slopes, do consider incorporating a village jaffle into your morning ritual.
